I have been playing baseball since I was 5, and started softball in 8th grade and have been playing ever since. When I was in Little League, I was a part of the all-star team, and continued to contribute to my team in high school by playing catcher. This past year I was a team captain for the co-op team between my school and two others, and I won the MVP award at the end of the year. I am an encouraging person towards my teammates, and I frequently make efforts to be a good sport, and not start conflict inside the team or out.
Outside of softball and in school, my grades aren't outstanding but I have passion towards specific things- I just used to have a hard time translating them into something that would give me credit. Like language studies- I studied French for most of my school career, but then discovered I had a passion for learning Mandarin Chinese. My mom supported me by signing me up for a class that would give me credit for learning it, and I was able to finally go all in on what I loved to do.
Outside of softball and school, I spend my time creating art, studying Chinese, and writing. I want to go into a college that supports these things to some extent- not just the specific interests themselves, but also an environment that's encouraging towards pursuing these things for purposes that aren't strictly for monetary or academic reasons. I also like to feel challenged, though in a way that acknowledges mental health as a relatively high priority.
