Kaili’s personal statement
Whew!! Let’s get to work!
Now that I have your attention, let me properly introduce myself.
Hi! I’m Kaili Sterling, a class of 2024 guard in Lindsay Lane Christian Academy’s girls basketball program. I embrace the role of student athlete wholeheartedly and would love to continue this role at the collegiate level.
Through my time on varsity I have been able to move through the ranks and be there for my team, whether it was being a spark off the bench, sixth man, or a starter. I’m excited about the upcoming 2022-23 season because as a program we will move up from 1A to 2A competition level in the Alabama High School Athletic Association. While we have been competitive against schools at the 3A and 4A level, this upward movement is still very thrilling to us all. As a program we have won two area championship and been in the finals each year I’ve been on the team since 2019-23.
As a player I may come off as quiet, but believe me under this calm cool demeanor there is a fire roaring. I liken my demeanor to Allisha Gray of the WNBA and Team USA 3x3. She’s not the flashiest player, but she has a good work ethic, understands the game, plays her role well on the court, and competes to win. I may be on the shorter end of the height, but I’m a believe that bigger isn’t always better. What some might see as a lack in height, I definitely make up for it in my “fight”.
As a student I take my education very seriously. I understand the importance of doing well in the classroom, being self-motivated, and retaining the information I’ve learned. Throughout high school I’ve been able to balance academics, sports, and being involved with student leadership by serving as a student council member since the 2020-21 academic year.
As an individual my faith is my foundation. It’s my faith that gives me hope, pushes me to be better, and holds me accountable. After faith, my family is very important to me. We enjoy having fun together and just being around each other. When I do have spare time I enjoy playing video games, watching wrestling, and watching the occasional non-cringy romcom.
While in college I would like to study in the human services field majoring in psychology or social work, but I am also considering physical therapy.
Coach, I am excited about this recruiting journey and I want you to be a part of it with me. I am doing my best to put in the work so that I will be an asset to your program. I’m ready to start a relationship with you and I’m open to camp invites, official visits, unofficial visits, and conversation. Let’s get to work!
