Personal Statement

I am a 16 year old, eleventh grade student attending a University Preparatory Private School in Calgary Alberta Canada.  I have been a multi-sport athlete for my whole life, playing Field hockey, track and field, volleyball, cross country, rugby and basketball. I have currently found my passion to pursue basketball following high school. I am of indigenous, Metis heritage, and have been a part of this community through basketball as well.

As a combo guard, I bring a unique blend of skills, capable of playing both the point guard and shooting guard positions. This versatility allows me to adapt to various game situations and contribute effectively to the team's success.

I have a strong understanding of the game, which enables me to make smart decisions on the court. Whether it's running the offense, setting up plays, or finding the open man, I am always looking to make the right play.

I pride myself on being a team player and a leader. I believe in leading by example, encouraging my teammates, and fostering a positive and cohesive team environment. My ability to communicate effectively both on and off the court helps to create a strong team dynamic.

I am highly dedicated to my development as a player. I consistently put in extra hours to improve my skills, whether it's shooting, ball handling, or defensive techniques. My commitment to continuous improvement ensures that I am always ready to contribute to the team's success.

Despite my height, I am a tenacious defender. I use my quickness, agility, and anticipation to disrupt opponents, create turnovers, and guard players taller than myself. My defensive mindset helps to energize the team and set the tone on that end of the floor.

I bring passion and dedication to the basketball court every day and have an exceptional work ethic.  I am committed to pushing myself and improving everyday. I pride myself on my positive outlook and willingness to learn from both successes and setbacks. I approach every practice and game with enthusiasm, humility and a hunger to grow as a player and person. Teamwork is very important to me and I believe in creating a supportive and empowering team environment.
