Basketball has been the biggest part of my life ever since third grade. Growing up, my two siblings have always competed in every possible subject, from grades to athletic abilities it had been our top goal for us to be at. So, after discovering my brother's new interest in basketball, I knew I had to find a way to beat him to the top. To this day, I am so grateful for my family's competitiveness. Ever since that day, basketball became my new reality, my way of escaping the pressures and stresses of life.
The three major factors that I possess have helped me slowly climb toward success, those factors are flexibility, dedication, and patience. I believe that the greatest attribute in life is flexibility, all of my life I’ve had to live through many different atmospheres as I have lived in 4 different states and attended 8 different schools within 15 years. Despite all of those sudden changes, I have learned to accept and adapt to all situations. With dedication and patience, I have become the person I am today. I’ve used those factors to overcome the many adversities that were placed before me.
Though some may disagree, I personally believe that the greatest subject invented is mathematics. My father has always pushed me and my siblings to be the best version of ourselves and part of that includes academics. Ever since elementary school, aside from school, my father has always provided extra work so that we could excel. So as kindergarteners, we were already learning algebra and geometry. I am also very thankful for that as now in high school, all the hard work is being paid off.
My favorite quote is “Everything happens for a reason” which originated in Aristotle's philosophy. This quote has helped me get through tough times in my life and I will continue to use this quote as slowly advance toward success. My ultimate goal is to become an all-academic college basketball champion. In order to reach my goal it is a must to overcome hardship and work hard to reach that goal.
