Hello Coaches, thank you for taking the time to read my profile. My name is Rylee and I am a high school sophomore. I have been playing sports since I was six years old. My family consists of four moms, who are all very athletic, and my older brother. Two of my moms were Division 1 athletes and earned full ride scholarships for their sport. In addition, one of my moms has been a successful high school basketball coach for over 30 years. I believe this has helped me develop a high basketball I.Q. Needless to say, sports were introduced to me at a very young age. I had played basketball and softball since I was eight years old. However, I gravitated towards basketball at age 10, as it is my true passion.
Currently, I play for the Cal Stars 15 EYBL team. I have played with Cal Stars for the past 4 years, and we have competed in tournaments all over the country. Other basketball programs I have participated in were Upward, CYO, Junior high, High School, Jr NBA ( 3x3, 5X5), and AAU (Norcal Aces and Calstars). In addition, both of my JR NBA teams won their regionals competitions and move on to compete at the highest level.
I play year round basketball between AAU and High School. This past year, I was the only freshman on the varsity team at Alhambra High School in Martinez, Ca . Playing with older players taught me a lot. It really helped me mature and also gave me a different perspective of what I thought leadership means. Leadership doesn’t automatically come from being a captain, a senior, or even the high scorer of the game. A leader is someone who works as hard in practice as they do in games. They are always positive to their teammates, regardless of the score. I believe I am that kind of leader, and will continue to be one through my basketball career.
I am a well rounded player as I have played every position on the court. Being tall at an early age helped me gain the skills for my inside game as well. I am now playing more on the wing, but not afraid to mix it up inside. I can confidentially handle the ball and I see the floor well. I can score off the dribble as well as set my teammates up for their shot. I have very strong defense as I can guard inside players as well as outside. I put in a lot of effort and hard work on and off the court. In addition, I train year round, as I have a personal trainer for strength and a personal basketball coach for basketball specific skills. I feel lucky to have my family support, as I believe this has helped me so much over the years.
School is a huge priority for me, I strive to study hard and maintain my high GPA. I am a member of the California Scholarship Foundation, and I have been very interested in a few clubs (Covid has prevented me from joining). I have also helped coach summer basketball camps, and I help teach kids the game that I love.
I want to be a successful college basketball player and student. I am looking for a college that will test my limits in the classroom, and in the gym. I would love to play at the highest level of basketball possible. I also want to be a role model for younger girls playing the sport and I want to make my family proud.
