Alyssa Long-Jeffrey '12 Recruiting Profile

My name is Alyssa Long-Jeffrey.  I am about 5'4" an weight about 130 lbs.  I have always been quick on the court.  My speed helped me tremendously.  For the past three years I received the MVP award for my high school team and for the past two years I was selected as 2nd team all-states.  This year I am team captain  A role I take very seriously.  I know my players are watching me and looking at me for guidance.  I try to always set a positive example even when it gets messy on the court.  I have played soccer and volleyball for my high school, but basetball is my passion.  I feel like I was born to play.  There's no where I'd rather be than on the basketball court.  I have been playing basketball since I was six years old.  I have attended basketball camp for ten summers, including the camp at UCONN, Quinnipiac University, and Maria Conlon's basketball camp.  In camp I receieved two awards, MVP award and sportsmanship award.  Since I was six years old, I have played for the town league, the Boys and Girls Club, my grammar schools, AAU, and for high school.  I always work as hard as I can at every game.  Regardless of whether the score is 30-6, or 6-30, I play to win.
My goal is to play basketball at a college that offers a nursing program.  I have wanted to be a nurse for as long as I can remember.  I love helping people and love playing ball and will do whatever it takes to do both.
My athletic goal is to have the opportunity to play for a great school with a great basketball program.  I would really like to play as a freshmen and have the opportunity to really contribute to a team.
