Personal Statement
College
I was offered a number of D1 scholarships and accepted an offer to play in the Big East at Providence College, where I played for two seasons. During my freshman year, I averaged about 13.8 min per game, 2.6 ppg, 2.29 rpg and tied a 30 year school record for most blocks by a freshman with 41 blocks, which was 3rd in the Big East. A new coach took over the program for my sophomore year and implemented a 5 man out offense which was run exclusively through our 3 point shooters. Upon completion of the season, five of us six post players were released from the team because our strengths as post players didn't fit with the guard oriented offense.
Highschool
Basketball:
- I was a four year varsity player who helped my team win a Class LL state championship for the first time in program history. I finished my career at Wilton HS with a record of 81-19. Though I missed two full months of my varsity career due to injury (1 month with concussion and 1 month with a broken wrist), I finished just 31 points shy of 1000.
- I love working with little kids. Whether I am reffing or coaching clinics/camps, it's great to know I am improving their games and sharing the information that has made me the player I am today. I hope to always pay forward the knowledge and passion for basketball that has been given to me.
- Winning is my first priority. I love getting great stats, but it also makes me feel good when I'm able to help set my teammates up to make great shots.
- I would love to be on a team where I can make an impact. Whether it is an important rebound or a game winning shot, I want to know that my coach has confidence in me that I will help my team to the best of my ability. Being on a team that can contend for any type of championship or title would achieve my dreams.
- Although I may not be the most chatty person in the world, I am always looking to pick up my teammates when they are upset. I've learned that a good pat on the back or short pep talk can cheer a person up enough to play a great game, so I don't hesitate to show them that their little mistake is not the end of the world. We all make mistakes. When looking for a team, I want to know that they will have my back 100% through everything I do, just like I will always have their backs.
Other Information:
- I enjoy playing cello in the orchestra and singing in the chorus both in school and in church.
- I have a passion for photography and art in general.
- I love making people happy, no matter whether it is by giving high-fives to the youth players that come to our games or singing in the assisted-living home during the holiday season.
- I am proud to have been on the high honor or honor roll every semester.
- I am blessed with a great family that supports me in everything I do.
