What sets me apart from other players are my academics and attitude. I am no stranger to failure, and I welcome it, especially when I know it can only help my game. As a team captain for three consecutive years, being able to interact with other players and being a positive teammate was something I had to master in order to effectively lead my team. As an athlete I recognize that my academics come first and have learned how to manage my time while also committing to basketball.
While we didn't win the state championships, my high school team was in second place last year. But that wasn't the accomplishment for me, it was the fact that I was able to lead my team and finish off the year strong and together. As a guard, it is very important being able to communicate with your team, and I feel as if I am always improving my leadership skills. Even with classes and more responsibility in college, I hope to be a part of a team that supports each other and I'm willing to contribute to that.
