Scythe Shephard '23 Recruiting Profile

I have always been passionate about playing basketball. The passion began when I was in fifth grade and was playing with eighth graders. The intensity, the energy, and the skill required to play the game captivated me.  My joy in playing the game has increased with my skill level.  I started all three years on my middle school team and in my eighth grade year lead our undefeated, championship team in assists, points, and steals. My freshman year in high school, I was captain of the ninth grade and JV teams. I also lead both undefeated teams in scoring, assists, and steals. The varsity team brought me up for the playoffs and tournaments. I have played travel for two years and was captain of both teams.  Again, I lead the teams in assists and steals. I am now heading into my third year of travel basketball. I am known as a "one-woman press" because of my defensive abilities. I am a 83% free throw shooter and my goal is to improve to over 90%.  I bring the same intensity to academics as I do to basketball. I am an "A" student. To keep active and in shape, I cross train with other sports: lacrosse, flag football and beach volleyball. I love to challenge myself and continue to do so in order to be the best person and athlete I can be.
