MaKiyah Matthews '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is MaKiyah Matthews, my goal is to play college basketball while gaining a great education. In college I look forward to majoring in elementary education. I am very passionate about both basketball and school, and I am driven to succeed in everything I do. I love finding a family bond with my teammates and watching the chemistry transfer onto the court. I have been playing basketball for as long as I can remember, and the thing I love most about it is the rush you get during a good competitive game. One of my greatest strengths other than my speed and defensive ability , is that I am very coachable. Leading my team on and off the court is something I strive to do every day.

Additionally, one of my biggest assets is that I am willing to play whatever position necessary to help my team. I also feel that my commitment to playing multiple sports makes me different from a lot of other recruits. My experience in both High School and club teams for Basketball shows that I want to compete against the best. This taught me that everyone will experience defeat and it's the way you react that will determine your future. Basketball has always been a major part of my life and I am excited about the opportunity to take my athletic career to the next level.
