Laynee Torres-Kahapea '23 Recruiting Profile

I have committed to attend Portland State University in the fall of 2023.

I am born and raised in Kaneohe, Hawai’i. I attended a small private elementary school at Windward Nazarene Academy and then public middle school at King Intermediate School. After applying three times to Punahou School, I was accepted my freshman year to Punahou, Maryknoll School and Kamehameha Schools. 

I am in my senior year of high school at Punahou School and work hard to keep a 3.9 GPA and train at my craft as much as I can. I value time with my family who have been supporting me in everything I do. I have learned a lot about team leadership in my club team and from my high school team this past season. I may not be the highest scorer in every game I play because I am always looking to set up my teammates with the best opportunities for them to score. I like to play with creativity and work to improve every part of my game. 

I am verbally committed to play with Portland State University next fall, 2024.
