During my sophomore year, after five years of playing with a well respected and highly competitive club team, I made the difficult decision to join another club team. It was at this moment that I realized who I was as a player and my capabilities. Although the transition was a struggle, I was able to seek different opportunities and form a new identity for myself as being a player who takes risks, steps up as a leader, and encourages their teammates, while also managing to keep them laughing. Through this obstacle, I was able to accept the fact that not everyone will support and guide you to success. Making the decision sparked motivation in me to prove not only my coaches wrong, but myself, and that I can compete with other players at the next level.
Playing basketball has also benefited me through the classroom. Classes everyday are like basketball practices and tests are just like those big games. Which is why everyday I approach classes with a growth mindset and challenge myself to academically succeed in all areas. Being active and participating in sports has been a big part of my life, which is why I am planning to study in the Sports Medicine field, as I want to assist athletes to overcome injuries and develop their confidence.
I am very open to the opportunities that any college can provide for me, both athletically and academically, and I hope that I have gained your interest to maybe play for your college!
