As a dyslexic athlete I have always found the essence of who I am on the basketball court. Sports have always come naturally to me where in contrast I have to work so much harder than my peers in school. I am home on the court and I pride myself on seeing the game almost in the style of the Matrix! I can process where people are going, where to put the ball, and how to predict the next move which I think gives me an advantage on the floor. Above all, I work hard to make my teammates better. I work hard to be unselfish and work hard to keep my team moving in the right direction. Overall, I never want to leave the game of basketball. For some people it is just a game, but for me it is a source of pride and so much of who I am. Some people think about when they will hang up their shoes and that will never happen to me. I will always be a part of the game whether it be by coaching or training. I am so grateful for what this game has given me, and I just want to find a way to give back. As a junior college athlete I feel lucky to have continued to play the game at a high level and I look forward to continuing to do so.
