Since I began playing basketball , there's two things that basketball has allowed me to do that I aspire to continue doing at the collegiate level. These two things include growing to become a better athlete and an even better person. The collegiate level provides immense time and repetition to allow an athlete to perfect their game to reach their full potential. My goal as a collegiate athlete would be to take this time to reach my highest potential and be the best athlete I can be with the abilities I was born with. I don't want to look back on myself someday and think I could have done more. To reach this goal, I understand that it takes dedication and commitment both of which I have continued to learn through basketball. Not only these important traits, but how to be a leader, have a growth mindset, and be a team player. At the collegiate level, I aspire to learn from the invaluable lessons basketball provides to grow as an individual.
I also understand that not only is it important to grow as an individual, but it is even more crucial to grow as a team. My mindset to grow together and to value the people around me is what sets me apart from others. I value the indispensable perspectives and expertise that my teammates and coaching staff are gifted with because I know without them no one would be successful. This same mentality I have towards the people in my athletic life also applies to my everyday life and academic career. Unlike some, education is my top priority when it comes to future plans because I know how far a good academic career can take me in life. That is why I respect and listen to the viewpoints of my teachers because I can learn from their experience to be the best student I can be to be successful.
While it is key to learn from others to be successful, it is just as important to work hard to apply what you learn from others to reach success. I have never been the person that has shied from a task because it was too hard or it has took to long to complete. When I set goals for myself or my team sets goals together, I use my determined mindset to motivate myself and others to reach them. Even when a task gets difficult, I endure on individual and team goals because no true success comes easy.
