Personal Statement

Ultimately, College is about getting a degree that you can be successful with.  College & basketball need to be a good fit for me as far as my beliefs, standards, and academic goals.  I work hard in the classroom so that I can play but also so  I can achieve the degree that will support my career goals.   I want to play basketball for a team where I can compete at the highest level possible & contribute from the start.  I have a strong defensive skill set  & high basketball IQ.  I see the court well and am willing to put the time in to improve.  I take criticism well & will work hard to make the team better.  I love to help people.  I have organized service projects that have earned the Youth Resources Tri-State Youth of the Year award (Operation Barracks 2013) & a nomination for the Celebration of Leadership, Leadership of Evansville award (for Game-UP Basketball Skills Camp.) On March 10, 2016 I was awarded the Leader in Sportsmanship Award from Leadership of Evansville.  "Game Up Skills Basketball camp" was a concept  I put together through the help of a grant from Youth Resources to help kids at a local Title 1 school learn basketball.  With the help of some friends, I put on a free 6-day (over 6-weeks) camp for approximately 40 kids in 3-6 grades.  Teaching these kids made me realize how much I love to coach too. I had a blast watching them grow as individuals.          THANKFUL & BLESSED TO OFFICIALLY BE AN  EVANSVILLE ACE!
