Personal Statement
Everyone has their dreams as they grow up and mine hasn't changed. I have always dreamed of playing basketball at the collegiate level. I made a plan early on that required hard work, determination, and strong work ethic. I started putting my plan to achieve this goal into action through playing on my school's Jr Prep teams, additional league teams, and my travel ball team Indiana Elite SWISH.
My plan took a detour when I tore my ACL and meniscus my sophomore year. I knew that it was going to take even more hard work and determination to return to the game that I love and accomplish my goal to reach my dream. Tearing my ACL/meniscus opened my eyes to how hard I would have to work to get back to what I love which contributes to my great work ethic today. Now that I am completely healed, I feel as if I could play at the next level.
I believe that in order to be a great teammate and player it is important to value leadership, work ethic, and teamwork. Also through my own coaching of several teams, I understand how important being coachable is for the team and a reflection of your character. With these values along with my high academics and athletic skills, I believe I could be a great asset in achieving our team's goals while earning my degree.
