Personal Statement
Hello I am Rose Fuentes, I am a very passionate and hardworking basketball player. I am a 5’6 shooting guard for my highschool and traveling AAU team. I have been playing AAU basketball since I was in the 3rd grade and have won three state titles and have been ranked third in the nation over the years of playing. After my freshman year of high school I have been named in the top ten in every high set skilled category and made first conference team. I have always wanted to play at the collegiate level and look forward to improving my skills. I work hard on and off the court, I take my academics as serious as I take basketball.
As an individual player I think that I would be an asset to any team because of the many strong qualities I have. Mulitple coaches and players have told me I am known as a team player, who can distribute the ball very well to my teammates. Not only can I set my teammates up to score but I can also create scoring opportunities for myself. I am a very unselfish player who will have no hesitation to give the ball up for a smarter play or a better chance of scoring to someone else. I have heart and hustle for the game and will always give 100% on the court. I always do the little things that make big differences such as boxing out every time a shot goes up, staying low throughout the whole game, communicating on offense and defense, and listening to directions and applying it to my game.
I would like to attend a university that is not only good in their women’s basketball program but also has a strong nursing field. Nursing is the major I would like to pursue in college. I want to take my basketball career as far as possible in either division I or division II. Staying close to home is preferable but I am open to almost any location as long as the university has what I am interested in.
