My name is Abigail Laberge. I am from Quebec City, Canada and I have both Canadian and American citizenships.
For as long as I can remember, it has been my goal to play basketball at the collegiate level. I have always pushed myself to improve. After my team practices were finished, I practiced with my private trainer 3-4 times a week. I`m very grateful that my parents have given me the best opportunities possible to help me continue to develop as a player and do what I love.
I have played rugby, ran cross country and track and field but basketball has always been the sport that I love. I am a versatile and athletic player. My position is 2 but I can also play 1 and 3. I use my athleticism in many ways: to drive to the basket, to pull down a rebound, to create plays for my teammates…. I am an unselfish player and I will do whatever my coach-team needs to help us succeed. I learned basketball from my African coaches, one from Senegal and the other from Congo. They always taught us that we`re a team but we`re also a family.
I attended a competitive, demanding private school where I learned a rigorous work ethic and today I enjoy academic challenges. I was honored to be named the Regional Female Athlete of the Year an award for excellence in sports, academics, school and community involvement. I was also named to the All Star team for 4 years.
I make an effort to balance my life between basketball, academics, family and my faith. I am an active member of my church`s youth group and I cherish the time that I can spend with my friends in Christ.
There are so many wonderful universities and colleges. I am open to all opportunities and I want any coach who might consider me to know that I am a dedicated, serious, perseverant worker both in the gym and in the classroom. I will give you my utmost cooperation, effort, commitment and most of all, my heart!
Most sincerely,
Abigail
