Personal Statement
Hello!! My Dianna Olvera from a southwest region of Kansas, where there are not a lot of opportunities for me to go play college basketball. As you can see, this is why I took a step to get myself out there and be known for the love I have for basketball. That is what a small town girl like me wishes for. Ever since I started to play basketball, I knew right away that I would fall in love with the game. While practicing out in the hot summer every single day, 3 hours a day, made me realize things will not always go my way so I have to learn to push through and be determined to improve on myself on the court.
As a point guard, I had to learn many things that could help out my team in ways that can also help with myself. Thanks to basketball, I now have an open mind of what I am supposed to do on the court which can be distributing the ball to teammates or scoring points. I have a mindset where whenever my opponent is dribbling the ball, the first thing that comes to my head is to steal the ball and score. Which my fast hands is also a great advantages that can lead to me having great ball handlings skills that are needed running down the court to score. Throughout the two years and this upcoming year that I have been on Varsity has taught me to have a positive mindset and attitude which is a contagious while being around othersand to give 100% energy every time I step on the court.
This type of mindset also follows as I am in school. I have been in the honor roll for each nine weeks throughout my high school since freshman year and also since junior high as well. Not only do I focus on basketball but I also have to focus outside of the court which is school and all of my classes I have been taking this year.
