My parents tell me that since I was a baby, I’ve been playing basketball. I initially aspired to become a professional basketball player since I could remember, but started taking this concept seriously when I turned 12 years old. My parents wouldn’t let me believe I could just go into life thinking that if I’m good at basketball, that’s all that matters, so they made sure I was well grounded with a good education. There is a reason the student comes before athlete in student-athlete.
I’ve become invested in this sport, and am completely committed to the responsibilities that this entails. I’m a very stubborn person when it comes to achievement, and when I set my eyes on something, I will do whatever it takes to reach that goal. In my mind, there is no such thing as average, only above. Whether it comes to academics or sports, I strive to reach above the standard.
I have a lot of experience in basketball, whether it was from street ball or playing with Huron. The hardest obstacle to overcome was to find the perfect balance between the two, and making sure I am more under control.
