2023 Highlights Personal Statement
I've always been captivated by the dynamic nature of basketball - the way it seamlessly blends individual skill with the art of teamwork. On the court, I find a sense of purpose and passion that drives me to constantly improve my game. My dedication to basketball is more than just a pursuit of athletic excellence; it's a commitment to learning valuable life lessons about perseverance, leadership and the importance of a strong work ethic. As I aspire to elevate my play, I also aim to inspire those around me by embodying the spirit of sportsmanship and the joy of competition. Basketball is not just a sport to me; it's a journey that continually shapes who I am. I am out on injury for my 23/24 sophomore high school basketball season but I have attended every single practice and game. I am using this opportunity to grow as a player by learning how to support my team from the sidelines instead of on the court. I have accepted my temporary injury as God’s plan for me to become a more well-rounded player. This setback will help me learn how to prevail through obstacles in basketball and life, and how to never give up.

Reads the play and gets into the most optimal position on offense and defense D Awareness - Knows rotations and is in right spot. Recognizes time and score and when/when not to foul Physical Abilities - 81 / 100 Speed - Great speed overall, in particular with footwork to get into position. Will be an important asset going forward. Agility - Showed good agility. Good body positioning and footwork helped you change directions quickly. Mental Abilities - 84 / 100 Team Player - Great team-first attitude. Was encouraging and supportive to teammates throughout camp. Coachability - Responds well to coaching. Asked good questions and seemed to enjoy the learning process. Coach's Comments Bailee Mclagan is super fun to coach! She is always locked in, wants to learn, and ready to compete. She is positive and always looking to bring out the best in others. She is a great on-ball defender, because she is so quick and scrappy. She has a great first step offensively and can get downhill in a hurry with a variety of finishing moves. She is someone you want to have on your team!
