Personal Statement
Hi,
I am Celesta Teijema and I am currently an exchange student in America, originally from The Netherlands. I play at the highest possible Level in The Netherlands and have travelled numerous places to play basketball. I have won the Dutch championship two times and have been in the Dutch national team a couple of times. I want to life out my dream of helping people in the medical field while also living out my dream of playing basketball in college. I want to get a master's degree. In the Netherlands I did the highest possible education for high school.
I am devoted and serious about basketball. I am always looking for a opportunity to grow as a player and as a person. I like to observe other players to see how they move and what their strengths and weaknesses our, so I can play on that. Self-reflection is something I find really important and something I try to do as much as I can. Because I think learning from your mistakes or things you did good is very essential for becoming a better basketball player. Basketball is my comfort activity, with basketball I always feel like I am the most realest version of myself.
I am very team-focused and love passing the ball to my teammates. I also look for and create my own opportunities but giving the extra pass is something I love to do. Growing up with a team that was an hour away from your home, it was a necessity for me to learn how to schedule. I would say I am thus excellent at planning and balancing school and sport. It made me be able to learn or do projects anywhere. In the car, train, basketball hall etc. I always hustle for the ball and I am not afraid to jump on the ground for the ball.
