Personal Statement
I have always enjoyed participating in sports, but since the beginning of middle school, I have focused primarily on playing basketball. While I love the physical challenge of training for the game, I especially enjoy team competition. I have been fortunate to have trained with tremendous athletes and coaches, with whom I have developed life long friendships. I plan to work to build a strong skill set that will help me reach my goal of playing basketball at the collegiate level.
My motivation to excel is not limited to basketball. Academics are extremely important to me and I believe that the effort I put into my education will determine my success in life. So I work hard and dream big. My hope is to attend college and medical school to become a surgeon.
In that regard, the lessons I have learned on the court continue to guide my life outside of basketball. As a point guard, I am responsible for reading the defense and calling the plays and that can lead the team to a win. As a team player, I have found that being reliable, remaining positive under pressure and knowing when to step up as a leader are necessary qualities that continue to serve me well.
