Personal Statement
As a high school student, I aspire to continue my athletic and academic career on the college level. Ever since I was younger I always dreamed of playing college basketball, no matter where it is. I am different than every other player because I am going through challenges that most other players do not have to deal with. In 2017 I tore my ACL but I did not let that discourage me as I kept my head high and knew that the comeback was going to be stronger than the setback. Even though I could not do most things everyone else could, I still went to GRIT basketball training to work on my shooting, ball-handling, and strength. I missed my whole sophomore year for both high school and AAU seasons but I do not see this as a bad thing, I view it as a chance for me to grow stronger mentally and learn how to deal with facing inopportune situations. On the academic side, I take my school work seriously and pride myself on making honor roll and participating in extracurricular activities other than basketball. Along with taking my regular classes I also take AP classes so I know how challenging school work can be. This year my whole game has improved due to the hard work I put in after my injury. Overall, I am looking for a school that is the perfect match for my academics and athletics.
