Hello, my name is Kierra Adams. I am a 5"8 senior and a starting varsity point guard at North Plainfield High School. Growing up, I would always watch NBA games and WNBA games, and even some college games, and I always said that I wanted to be just like those players someday. The elements in my life that influenced who I am as a person is my parents; they taught me the values of hardwork and determination. I first became interested in basketball when I picked up a ball for the first time. I played in my first recreation game and I realized that this was something I loved to do. Through playing basketball, I’ve learned about myself that I can do multiple things on the floor, on both sides of the ball. Academically, for both college and high school, I would like to keep my grades at A’s and B’s. I have overcome many obstacles to get where I am. When I first started out, I was always the last to get back to the line for drills because I wasn’t able to keep control of the ball as well as my other teammates. A more recent obstacle that I have overcome is tearing my ACL last season. It’s been a process getting back but I’ve been working hard and I’m excited and ready to finish strong for my senior season.
My ultimate goal is to receive a bachelors degree in law and make it to the WNBA. What makes me a good candidate to be selected by a college coach is that I work well with other people, and I can take instruction very well. I’ve been placed in leadership positions all throughout my basketball career and I know that I can be a leader on a college team.
