My name is Imani Mullings and I am a varsity combo guard at Plainfield High School; graduating class of 2026. I have been playing basketball since I was 7 years old. Ever since I first touched the basketball it felt like I had an understanding of the game like no other of my age. Right then and there I knew basketball would be my sport.
On the court, I am a unselfish player who knows when its the right time to score for myself or help a teammate score. When the offense tends to get wild and fast paced, I know how to slow down and set my team up for the next play. On defense I like to play aggressive, but smart. I know when it is time to play up or step back. I know not to overplay the ball and to keep one arms length away so I can still reach it.
I am a very coachable player. When a coach or teammate has a suggestion on something I should do differently I will listen to them. I also like to see my teammates improve so I will help them in anyway I can.
In the classroom, I like to be a model student; someone that you can come up to when you don't understand something. I have been maintaining a 4.0 gpa for as long as I can remember. I am in the Kean Scholar Academy program where I attend Kean University and take college courses to earn credits. In those classes I also have a 4.0.
I want to take my knowledge and skills on the court and in the classroom to the college level. I am very hardworking and dedicated to do so as well. I hope to make it not only to show myself how great I can be, but to show everyone else in Plainfield, New Jersey that it is possible.
