I started playing basketball at the age of 8. My older sister played basketball and I was always in attendance at her games dribbling the basketball and running onto the court to shoot whenever I got the chance. From that point on I have grown a love for the game of basketball and never looked back since. Basketball is simply a game of life. This game has taught me so many things that I will carry with me throughout life. A few things I have learned, not only about life, but about myself, are to stay disciplined at all times and to always have a positive mental attitude. I believe carrying a great attitude on and off the court reflects the kind of person you are and having discipline allows for structure and stability in basketball and life. First and foremost, I am a SCHOLAR- Athlete who values academics even more than athletics. As a result of my academic achievements in my Freshman and Sophomore years, I have been recommended for all honors and AP courses for my Junior year. I have maintained stellar grades throughout my years in school and will continue to uphold my grades throughout the rest of my years in high school and in college.
Making the decision to attend Saddle River Day School was one of the hardest decisions of my life. The decision to attend Saddle River meant I had to separate myself from my middle school friends and experience the unknown. I was put in an uncomfortable situation, however I do not regret this decision at all because I came out of this situation stronger and less fearful. Had I taken what I now see as the easy route, and chose to attend the high school in my town I would not have been pushed as hard academically and athletically. I knew I was stepping into a situation with four Division 1 commits which initially was intimidating, however I was up for the challenge and learned so much along the way. As a result of my growth in my freshman and sophomore years the experience developed my leadership skills and as a result, I was nominated to be captain by my coaches this year. I still have a lot more in store for the future and I am ready for it all. I am devoted to the game of basketball and I aspire to better myself and my teammates. I have a winning-mentality and look forward to continuing my athletic achievements at a school that offers both competitive academics and athletics.
