Sofia Squizziato '24 Recruiting Profile

To whom it may concern, 

My name is Sofia Squizziato and I am currently a junior at Watchung Hills Regional High School in New Jersey. I am a two year varsity basketball athlete who always impacts the team on and off the court with my work ethic, positive energy, and leadership skills. 

I am a coachable player who may not be the tallest on the court, but I make up for it with my quickness, aggressiveness, and high basketball IQ.  On the court, I box out, read passing lanes well which leads to fastbreaks. I make the extra pass, cause turnovers, and am not afraid to get on the floor and fight for loose balls. I am determined to work on my mistakes and perfect my strengths. For this reason, I received the "Heart and Hustle" award this previous season on the Varsity team.

Most importantly, I am a team player who always pushes my teammates and picks them up when they need it. I believe that team chemistry and connection leads to success on the court. I also believe that every player needs to practice how they play. I am always the first one to yell "great pass," "great finish," or simply encourage my team on the court. 

Off the court, I have an active role in 4 school clubs, babysit, work at a basketball camp over the summer, and volunteer as the Executive Director of the Kids’ Committee at a nonprofit organization for pediatric cancer called the WITH Grace Initiative(https://www.withgraceinitiative.org/). At school, I keep up with my work and am eager to learn. Currently, I have a 4.5 weighted GPA. In college, I hope to continue to play the sport I love while I study to receive my Doctorate in Physical Therapy and dive deeper into the Italian language. I hope that wherever I go, the school sees me as a student-athlete eager to impact the community and become the best player possible.
