My basketball career started in the state of Connecticut where this great sport was born. I was a ten year old child at the Stanford YMCA After School Day Care Program. After completing homework, I used to participate in swimming and martial arts. But when I was introduced to basketball, I became hooked. I couldn't stop playing. Quickly, I realized that basketball was to become my favorite activity and became a passion. Playing basketball allowed me to express my inner determination, competitiveness and leadership skills on and off the court.
I am determined to improve exponentially in my basketball skill set as my love for the game is deepening. The game has given me a perspective that is useful as I approach challenges in life outside the court. I aspire to someday play professional basketball and become a star alongside some of the greatest. With that being said, a person who has inspired me is Kobe Bryant. His work ethic and determination has been a model which has guided me during my journey as a student-athlete. I am willing to put in the work and effort to reach my goals.
Although I love basketball, I also love to compete in other sports. I like to think of myself as a complete athlete first. I have discovered my talent in other sports such as track & field, cross country, flag football, martial arts, swimming and weight lifting. These other sports have improved my athleticism and help me gain confidence when I compete in any physical event. To me, all of it is fun and I never feel overwhelmed. I just love sports and enjoy the physical and mental challenges it demands.
In conclusion, so far my athletic, academic, and community experiences is preparing me for the demands of college and life. Basketball is my chosen sport for which I have a deep passion, but I like to consider myself a well rounded athlete first. My determination, competitiveness, and leadership translates into my being a better person overall. My high standards and expectations will help me become an even better student and basketball player in the future.
