- 2022 Spotlight
Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Gabrielle Mazzotte, I’m currently a Junior at Crown Point Central School in New York. I’ve been playing basketball for as long as I can remember and have always dreamed of playing college basketball.
I began my Varsity basketball career as the starting point guard, at my school, as an 8th grader. Sadly, my freshman season was entirely lost, due to Covid 19. Despite losing the whole season, I worked on my game day in and day out.
Near the end of 2020, I endured a severe ankle injury that required major surgery and a great deal of rehab. As a result my sophomore season got off to a slow start. However, I put in the work and finished the year strong. While it wasn’t exactly the season I’d planned for, the adversity strengthens me and is a part of the process.
I believe my skills are strong on both ends of the floor, offensively & defensively. I primarily play shooting guard, but I can really play any position on the floor, playing all positions in the regular season; from point guard to post. My coaches like to take advantage of this whether it be in my high school season, on my AAU team, or during summer ball.
Along with basketball I play soccer, softball, and I’m a competitive dancer. While basketball is my main focus, these activities help to train me in other ways. Off the court, I work to increase my overall performance by building strength and endurance. I believe this is a vital part of the game. I consider myself extremely coachable and I’m always working to improve my game!
In the classroom I work hard, earn good grades, and make the most of my education. I strive to have high performance in the classroom and on the court. I’m excited to continue working hard to see my dreams become a reality.
