Elisa Lei Gonzales '22 Recruiting Profile

When I first started playing basketball for my school, our team was in the bottom of the league. We won very few games, and I was new to the sport. During this time of growth, I learned that it takes a lot of perseverance to not give up and push through. As I continued to play, through encouragement of my coach and family, I gained more confidence, enabling me to improve my skills. Due to my improvement, I was able to contribute to my team gaining the respect and trust of the more seasoned players. Thus, as a team, we earned the title of best in the league.

I enjoy playing basketball and would love to continue with the game while earning my degree. I believe God has given me a mind for science and academics therefore, my goal is to gain a strong science background in college in order to go into medical research. Whether on the court or in the classroom, I am an enthusiastic and diligent worker eager to learn and improve. Teachers describe me as respectful and responsible:  I do my work well and on time, I ask questions and participate, and I am willing to work with and help others. All of these attributes I bring to any sport I play.  Whether preparing for a game or playing in one, I am a fierce, determined athlete. This shows in my tenacious defense and eagerness to dive for loose balls. This energy has encouraged my team to play their hardest. So, whether in a classroom or on the court, with a spirit to help others do the same, I aim to use the abilities God has given me to succeed and do my best.
