High School Baske...My name is Jehan Rana. I am a student at TMSA in the 12th grade. I know that a lot of people get confused about where I am from, but I am half white and half Pakistani. My mom is white my dad is Pakistani. I got my inspiration for basketball from my mom and from my brother. My mom used to play basketball in high school and her number was 21 which I am going to use, and I am going to continue to use her number. I also got inspiration from my older brother. He always used to go to the masjid to hoop with his friends and I always used to come and watch him and when I saw him play, I started falling in love with basketball. I started signing up for basketball practice and practicing with teams and when I got good, I joined a team and that's where my journey began. Basketball gave me an opportunity to try something new. The first thing that basketball has taught me is change. I didn't always like basketball. The first sport I chose was gymnastics. It taught me that I can do both. Also, what I love about basketball is teamwork. Playing together as a team creates a special bond that is difficult to break. Also, when I play basketball it makes me feel so much more confident that it makes me not care about what others think of me. It's just one of those feelings that makes me feel good when I play basketball because everyone has told me when I play you are so good. Also, every time basketball season comes around the first question, they ask me is did you make the basketball team. Basketball to me is overall the best sport out of all the other sports. I also believe out of all the sports to watch basketball is the best sport to watch on tv. Basketball is very fun to watch on tv because when you watch it you can take the moves you see the professionals perform and add them to your style of basketball. I take many of my moves from professional basketball players and make them my own. My favorite basketball player to watch is Stephen Curry. He is an all-around athlete is still going strong at 30 years old. He is one of the biggest role models for basketball. I look at Stephen Curry as the ultimate weapon. I want to play like him as I continue to get better and better every time, I play basketball. Also, I didn't mention this, but I take basketball very seriously. This is what I want to do in college and hopefully go on to the WNBA. That is my dream. I want to be on the Atlanta Dream basketball team and hopefully play for them one day, but I will have to get better first. Basketball isn't just a sport to me it's a way of life. A lot of people sacrifice their time for, and a lot of people are counting on me to be the best and hopefully one day I will be one of those players that people look down to when they play basketball.
