I am an ideal candidate for college coaches because of my grit and determination and my extensive collegiate goals and aspirations. Not only am I extremely focused and dedicated to basketball, but I strive to excel academically and contribute to bettering my society. I work as a part of a nonprofit that aims to bridge racial inequity present in the educational system. I also volunteer for two tutoring nonprofits; one of which specifically focuses on tutoring refugees. Furthermore, I am extremely well-rounded when it comes to my extracurriculars. I play varsity tennis and run varsity track as well as being a part of my schools debate team. In school, I have straight As, and I know how to manage my time to maintain the best grades. I was recently accepted into the North Carolina School of Science of Math which is nationally ranked as one of the top public high schools.
I have started on my school’s varsity team since freshman year. My sophomore year I was a leading scorer and rebounder. I have played AAU since fifth grade, and am currently playing for Coach Ty Cox’s Carolina All-Stars. I am a great leader on the court, and I will always go out of my way to make the hustle plays, because I know the little things are integral in winning games.
In the 2021/2022 varsity basketball season I was the athlete of the week twice - once by the News and Observer, and another time this was awarded by the North Carolina High School Association:
