Personal Statement
I am the middle child of three. I learned early on how to emphasize teamwork and also to work hard to get recognized. This same mentality carries over onto the basketball court. I strive to make my teammates better by not only being the best I can be but also putting them in positions in which they can succeed. When they succeed I feel a sense of accomplishment. My family has instilled in me a value system that looks to increase the worth of everyone and not just me. I have also been taught hard work and how to push yourself in uncomfortable and challenging situations. I have been a USSF Licensed soccer official for 3 years and a Lifeguard for one. Both of these roles have taught me how to deal with conflict, decision making, and responsibility for the well-being of others. This has strengthened my basketball decision making skills by allowing me to remain calm during intense moments of the game and by leading the team during these moments. It is hard to get me rattled!
I love to be around my teammates as much as possible. Basketball is my favorite sport, but I also play 2 other sports so that I can continue to be around my teammates all year round, without burning myself out on one individual sport. I would play 4 sports but I can not figure out how to play soccer and volleyball at the same time! My goal is to continue to grow as a HS basketball player and to take my skills and values to a college program. I constantly am working on all areas of my game and just not one or two skills. I am proud to state that I am a versatile player that can have an impact on the game in many positions and on both ends of the court.
