I have been playing soccer since I was 3 years old and basketball since I was 11 years old. At 11, everyone was guaranteed a spot on a team, but I knew if I wanted to make the school team in 7th grade, I had a lot of catching up to do to prove I belonged on the court, as most of my teammates have been playing since they were 6 years old. I spent my summer training 5-6 days a week and not only made the 7th grade team, but went on to start every game in 7th and 8th grade. I was awarded the team sportsmanship award in 7th grade and the team Warrior award in 8th grade (as well as VIP for my 8th grade track team). I was also awarded the OHSAA Archie Griffin Award, the highest student athlete award given at my school. I was also blessed to make the varsity team my freshman year of high school.
I’m a very defensive minded player and have a high basketball IQ. I am a team player and leader on the court. I lead by talking and encouraging my teammates on and off the court. I am very coachable and strive to be one of the hardest working players and one of the hardest working recruits you’ll find.
In the classroom, I am at the top of my class and maintain straight A’s while taking all honor and AP classes. I also maintain perfect attendance. This year, I’m excited to take part in Project More (Mentoring in Ohio for Reading Excellence), where I get to mentor K-2nd grade students in reading comprehension, fluency and vocabulary 4 days a week.
I want to attend a college where I can push myself in the classroom and on the basketball court. I am open to all options and want to ultimately find the right college match at the highest level of competition possible. I hope to become a future teacher or lawyer and coach so I can encourage and give back to our future generations.
