Basketball, throughout the many years I've dedicated myself to it, has taught me that it's more than a game. For the past six years, I've been playing basketball. This sport has always been a passion of mine since I was a child. My unrelenting, determined mentality stems from my desire to compete. Basketball is such an important part of my life that I can't possibly imagine life without it. My work ethic, according to my coaches, is my most valuable quality. Most people believe that I have an easy time playing basketball. Maybe I do, but nothing beats hundreds of drills and a consistent workout plan in the gym. Playing on a prep school team as a freshman has taught me so much. Spending hours in the gym observing seniors, my mentors, and my teammates has helped me further develop my game. It is sometimes difficult for me to balance my academic and athletic lives as a student athlete. However, I will not give up because of my intense desire to succeed in both. My goal is to play basketball for an NCAA Division 1 school. In order to achieve this goal, I need to continue excelling in the classroom and on the court. Basketball is a symbol of my passion, sacrifice, and, most importantly, it gives me a sense of belonging. This significant aspect of my life has provided me with a family and a supportive community in which I can flourish.
