2021 Highlights
Ally Smith Class ...When I picked up a basketball in the second grade, I fell in love with the sport. One of the most memorable moments of my athletic career was the feeling of passion and excitement that my first basket gave me when I began to play rep basketball. Since that moment, I have dedicated hard work and continuous effort to being the best I can be in both my academics and athletics. Though I have faced many challenges, I continued to persevere in order to maintain my drive and focus to getting to the next level. I hope to pursue my studies in Kinesiology and Sports Medicine when I graduate secondary school, and I have maintained a 94% and above academic average throughout my years of high school, which has come from my diligence and sacrifices as being a student athlete isn't easy. I have been able to balance my academics along with my basketball career for most of my life, meaning I have strong time management skills. I continue to strive to be the best version of myself I can be, on and off the court. Though COVID-19 has put a restraint on my life as it has to everyone, I have learned that using this time to develop my skills and physical abilities as well as staying positive and focused on my goals will generate success. I am compassionate, have strong leadership skills, determined, honest and coachable. I love to push myself as well as my teammates in practice to improve our abilities, and I truly enjoy every moment I have with a basketball in my hands. Regarding my basketball skills, I have great court vision as I am able to find my teammates to create advantages. I can shoot the ball, and beat my defender to then recognize the options I have created at a fast pace. In terms of defence, I use my lateral speed to put great amounts of pressure on the ball to force turnovers. I believe that I not only have the characteristics of a dedicated college-athlete, but the talent for it as well.
