Personal Statement
My goal upon graduation is to further my education and continue to play basketball at the varsity level at a college or university that fosters my goals and strengths. I am a very committed and driven person. I have always possessed a passion for basketball and I have a competitive expectation of myself. I have played basketball at all levels including club/tournament ball, AAU, Grade School, and High School Varsity. Currently, as a junior, I expect to remain a starter as well as a team leader. In addition to my commitment to basketball, I am also a competitive dancer for both my high school, and for a local Dance Studio. Despite my active and busy lifestyle, I never allow my activities/sports to collide with my schoolwork and I strive to maintain a good balance between all of my commitments. If I were to define myself as a basketball player, I would say that, above all, I am "versatile". I am capable of playing most positions and all areas of the court. If you need me to clear the back court, I can pass my way out or I can beat my defender up the court. If you need me to feed the ball to the post, I will find her. If you need me to battle in the paint, I will take the biggest player and go head to head. If you need point production, I will find ways to create space and will shoot. I am strongest, however, and most utilized at the forward and wing positions. Being 5'8", I am not the tallest player on the court, however, what I lack in height, I make up for in strength and toughness. I am in top athletic shape and I am not afraid of contact. I have a "defense first" mentality. I pride myself in snatching up defensive rebounds and creating turn overs. I have a good eye for the ball, so look for key blocks and strip steals. I am a good leader and a better teammate. I am committed to working everyday on and off the court to become the best version of myself that I can be, as an athlete, as a student, and as a human being.
