Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Maddy Casale and I am currently a junior at Sewickley Academy, one of the oldest and academically rigorous in the western Pennsylvania region. I love basketball and I want to ultimately play in college, however I know that basketball is only one aspect of my life. I try to balance school, basketball, and a personal life to the best of my abilities. For the past three years, I have been the starting point guard, leading our school basketball team in points and assists and this year, I also led in rebounding and steals. I am proud to have helped my team to to consecutive playoff appearances, a feat we had not achieved since 2010.
Although I am proud to have been named All-Section for basketball this year in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette as a sophomore and junior, I am also excited to have been voted by my peers as a member of Honor Council and a Peer Counselor out of many Sophomore and Junior candidates. I also also play field hockey (I am a Captain) and led the team in scoring and assists the past two years. I also helped my teammates to stay positive, even last year when we lost every game and had to play down 3 players every game. My goal is to work hard and try. I don’t want to make excuses; I just want to learn from my mistakes and get to the next level and be the best basketball player, student, and person that I can be. Thank you for reading!
