After 6 years of competitive dance where my height was a weakness, my dad suggested I try basketball. I started playing in the fall 2020, where we could only work on individual drills and skills. Then in fall of 2021 I had my first opportunity to play an actual game, I was instantly hooked.
Basketball is enjoyable as it is not an individual sport, to succeed you must work with the rest of your team and rely on each other. This allows me to showcase my problem-solving skills and capacity to work with a group on the court. In addition, basketball taught me the joy of being committed and dedicated to a team. I love getting to know my teammates and seeing them regularly at practices and games.
For me when I am on the court the rest of the world fades into the background and the only thing I am focused on is the game. I love the thrill of getting a rebound, blocking a shot or seeing a teammate make an excellent shot or pass.
My current academic goal for high school is to obtain an overall GPA of 3.5 so I can be accepted into a good college.
In college I want to take environmental engineering so I can help the environment and have an impact in solving our current environmental problems.
