Ashley Gilbert '15 Recruiting Profile

My passion is Basketball. I am a Junior at Bledsoe County High School. I have worked with a private coach for over eight years. Always striving to push myself to new levels as a student athlete and a person. I am a 5'6 combo guard (playing both point and shooting guard) for my AAU and high school teams. Don't let my size fool you. While height may not be one of my greatest assets, taking care and handling the basketball is. I am a motivational leader. I guide my teammates by controlling the tempo of the game, and our outlook on any challenge. I am a firm believer in leading by example. As a coach once told me, the work of being an athlete is never over. You cannot learn all there is to know about the game after just one practice. I can never reach the top level, there will always be another step to take to further my game. I love the never ending challenge to become a better teammate. I carry this lesson into my everyday life as a Christian, I will always have more work to do to continue to grow in my faith. I find that all of these characteristics are important for me to uphold both on and off the court. Off the court I am an outgoing student-athlete, at this time maintaining a 4.0 grade point average. I am currently excelling in honors classes, as well as, a dual enrollment program.
