Leanna Yee '19 Recruiting Profile

I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As a kid, I always had a passion for sports. Throughout my childhood, I played golf, tennis, swimming, softball, and basketball recreationally. However, basketball was my one true passion. We moved to Katy, Texas, and after playing one season with Katy Youth Basketball, I tried out for AAU basketball with the Katy Rebels in 2011. I have played AAU for eight years with the Katy Rebels's top 2019 team. I am starting as shooting guard, but I can also play point guard, small forward, or power forward. With several positions that I am able to play, it has helped me become a more versatile player and obtained a better understanding of the game. My AAU coach has been putting our team in varsity level tournaments since we were in eighth grade and we usually place 1st or 2nd.

With multiple years of AAU experience, I have developed a high basketball IQ, leadership, communication skills, good vision on the court, ball handling skills, and a good outside shot. I maintain a 3.98 GPA and I am involved in my school's student council and National Honors Society and obtain volunteer hours through my school's Interact Club. As a freshman, I was on the Freshman A team. I started as the point guard, was the top scorer, and chosen to be the team's captain. My sophomore year, I made the Varsity team. I start as the starting shooting guard or the starting point guard. In addition, I tend to stay on the court for most of the game, if not the whole game. 

I aspire to compete at the collegiate level and am willing to do what it takes to get there both on and off the court. I hope to achieve my dream of playing basketball in college and be the type of player coaches want. I will work to be a positive teammate while still keeping my grades up in the classroom. I'm looking forward to continuing my basketball experience in the future years.
