When I was in elementary school, my cousin, Jennifer Nava, played for the Martin Lady Tigers. Jennifer and I would play one-on-one games anytime we could find an open court, and it was my cousin Nava who always had the upper hand. That did not deter me — who was much younger — as I set a goal to one day beat my cousin. I never had the opportunity to see my cousin play, but we would always play one-on-one. She always beat me, but my goal was to one day be better than her. Now I can definitely ball, and as a sophomore last year I led Martin to the playoffs. I continue to work hard and hope to one day get a scholarship to play and studing nursing. I'm currently in the health magnet.
