Basketball has provided opportunities for me to learn and grow not only as a player, but also as a student athlete, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. My growth does not stop when I leave the court. I believe it is important to take what I have learned in this amazing game and apply it to my life. The opportunity to learn the game has taught me to pay attention, practice hard, and to never quit. In all things, I strive to do my best. This requires dedication and motivation to put in the work even when it's difficult. This also applies to schoolwork and my relationships. The opportunity to grow as a player in my individual skills has allowed me to help my team achieve our goals. Winning is a significant motivator in basketball, but sometimes you must look at the growth of the team and yourself to see where your hard work has placed you and where you can improve. Self-reflection and assessment help in all aspects of life. The opportunity to improve my leadership skills has helped me become a better leader to my teammates, younger players, and classmates. Encouraging those around me and promoting accountability has allowed me to build our team’s culture. I would love to continue my growth and basketball career in college utilizing everything that I have learned over the past 10 years of playing the game. I believe the opportunities are limitless!
