As a freshman making Varsity on a team filled with so many upperclassmen was a real sense of pride for me, to be named as a starter that same year in the playoffs was the highlight of my inaugural high school season. Being told I was being moved back down to JV to transition from forward to point guard my sophomore season was, I thought at the time, the low-light of my high school career. However, no matter how much I resented it at the time, that transition allowed me to learn a whole new skill set and made me a more rounded player and a bigger asset to the team. It also taught me the values of sacrifice, commitment, team work, and leadership. Being forced into that position has turned out to be a blessing in disguise and the highlight of my high school career. It has given me the intangibles that will allow me to excel anywhere on the court and has mentally prepared me to overcome any challenges that may pop up along the way to becoming a student-athlete at the next level.
I am seeking a program that will be a good fit for me both athletically and academically, but still challenging enough to force me continue to grow as a student-athlete. I feel my ability to step up and perform under pressure, face down and overcome adversity, work ethic, and leadership skills will provide a positive and immediate impact on your program. My strong moral character, drive to compete and win for my school, desire to earn the respect of my teammates and my coach will allow me to be a leader both on and off the court for your team!
