Personal Statement
Basketball has taught me many important values in life, and my goal is to keep using them as I grow in my athletic and academic career. Values such as the importance of communication, teamwork, hard work, and above all, leadership. I've used these to accomplish many things recently in my basketball career including:
8th Grade: Being voted most likely to become a female pro athlete
Freshman: Starting for the Varsity, awarded the team Defensive MVP award, named to the Prep Girls Hoops Washington 2022 Watch List
Sophomore: Starting point guard for Issaquah that finished 4th in the state in 4A basketball. Named 2nd team All King County 4A and led the conference in 2 PT % and FT %, 2nd in 3 PT %, and awarded team Defensive MVP for the second straight year. Also continued to maintain a cumulative 3.95 GPA.
My next big goal is to attend a college that is a good fit for me in basketball and the classroom, while also forming a strong relationship with the team I play for. What motivates me to play at the college level is to attend a great school where it will set me up with the life skills to continue to grow academically, athletically, and as a person over all. I'm interested in the fields of sports medicine, computer science, or biotechnology.
For my team, I play with a vision of scoring consistently, hitting the open player, gaining rebounds, lurking for steals, and locking up the opposing team's top player. I really enjoy playing point guard because the leadership I am responsible for to help my team succeed. Setting up plays while making the right reads is something I believe is a foundation in basketball as a point guard and to be the loudest communicator on the court too. I also believe defense is just as important because rock-solid defense prevents the other team from scoring and it is something I can always control within myself because it is almost 100% effort.
