Personal Statement
As far back as I can remember, athletics have always been a passion of mine. I have participated in organized competitive sports since the age of five to include gymnastics, dance, soccer, volleyball, lacrosse, and basketball. While I have enjoyed every single sport that I have ever participated in, my true passion is basketball. I have always loved participating in physical team activities that challenge me to continually improve my own skill set both mentally and physically in a fun environment while working towards a common goal as a team to be successful.
My coaches tell me that my strongest asset is my work ethic. I pride myself on giving 150% effort into every strength & conditioning session, practice sessions, scouting sessions to include film study, game plans, etc., as well as on game days and always leave everything that i have out on the floor. One AAU coach described me as being "one of the hardest working players he knows".
At 5'8" and 118 pounds, a lot of opposing teams may initially underestimate my speed & toughness factor when they first see me; however, whether it is in a guard capacity or post capacity where I may be outsized, my opponents quickly change their perspective when I am defending them on the court . I consider myself to have a very high basketball IQ and can read the floor with ease. I am a natural leader both on and off the court and take great pride in being able to communicate effectively with both coaches and teammates on and off the court.
My goals are to play NCAA Division I, II or III basketball - preferably Northwest or West Coast based that will challenge me both athletically and academically.
