My name is Sarah Lazar and I am a Junior at Edgewood High School in Madison, Wisconsin. I am not one to turn down a challenge! My curriculum is full of a variety of subjects, from the visual and musical arts to accelerated math and science courses. I value my academic life just as much as my athletic life. At Edgewood, I am a two-sport athlete (Basketball and Volleyball). Participating in the rigorous courses and the high-level athletics of my high school has taught how to balance my time between sports and athletics while giving my all in everything I do. I currently maintain a 4.10 GPA while being enrolled in multiple honors courses. I have played Varsity basketball all three of my high school seasons and I'm extremely excited for my Wisconsin Academy AAU season to start up later this summer.
I constantly push myself to improve. Basketball has always been a passion of mine. For as long as I can remember, I have been in love with the sport. It is my hope to continue with my passion for basketball into college while pursuing a quality education. My Varsity experience has taught me how to take charge and lead, how to expect the best effort from my teammates while holding myself up to high standards, and how to learn from those around me who can teach me how to step up to the next level. I have played AAU club basketball for five years and am currently preparing to play my sixth year, but I've played basketball year-round since I was in fourth grade. I can play as a Forward and Guard, and I pride myself on being able to handle the physicality of the paint while also being able to hit shots on the outside, attack the basket, or make an assist. My hard work and determination outside of practice have led me to my current level. Whether it's going into the gym at 6 am before school to get in shots, working on my dribbling in my driveway, seeking additional skills training, or going to weekly strength and conditioning programs, I understand that I always need to find ways to practice and sharpen my skills. The passion, love, and respect for the game of basketball I have will always be present. My inside-outside game, dedication, and coachability make me a versatile athlete and I believe I would be a great addition to your team.
