Basketball is my main passion. I started playing competitive basketball in the 4th grade. Ever since I started playing, I have learned many life skills. I've learned teamwork, leadership, hard work and communication. I have not only learned life skills but I have also learned a great amount about myself. I know that nine times out of ten I will be the most competitive person on the court. I also know that I will push myself to preserve through any challengers that come my way. I have already experienced many challenges to get to where I am today. I have endured health problems including a vascular mass in my lower back. The mass was extremely painful and resulted in my need for injections. The injections helped shrink the mass and make it less painful. During this process I continued to play through my Sophomore season. I maintained keeping my stats up and even managed to continue coaching and being a referee for youth basketball.
Helping the youth is another one of my passions. I aspire to help future generations succeed and reach theri potential. I myself am striving to be the best in my faith, in the classroom and in the gym. I've already started in the classroom by being on the Honor Roll my Freshman and Sophomore year, becoming Spanish Club President my Sophomore year and skipping English 2 and moving right into English 3 my Sophomore year. Addictionally, I am in FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) and some of my classmates and I have published a bilingual Spanish and English childrens book.
In the gym I have also started to make an impact by being a three year varsity starter and three time All Conference Honorable Mention point guard. I was also voted varsity team captain my Sophomore and Junior year. Outside of school I have been playing AAU for Wisconsin City Hoops. We have travelled to a couple of big tournaments such as the West Coast Nationals in Las Vegas taking 2nd place overall in 15U last season. Last season we played in the Super 64 in Denver, Colorado. This season we will again be going to the West Coast Nationals in Las Vegas.
Along with what I have already done, I'd like to be the player of the year in our conference, help my team finish top two in our conference and finish top of my class at Spencer. Moving even further, I would love to play competitive college basketball and study something along the lines of a physiotherapist or sports psychologist. I plan to achieve all of this by showing that I am a versatile player who goes all out all the time. I am also coachable and always looking to improve. My faith, my family and becoming the best I can be is what motivates me to try my hardest and to succeed.
