Fall 2023 II
Fall 2023
2023 HighlightsMy name is Niamh Hughes (pronounced neeve). I have been diving since I was a freshman and I continue to love every second of it! I am excited to start collegiate-level diving. After years of diving, I have realized that diving is a sport that requires as much mental determination as physical. Pushing through the fear of failure to complete a new dive is a skill that I have perfected. My personality is extremely coachable, as I am always up for a challenge. This can be shown on and off the pool deck. During the 2022 dive season, I qualified for CIF division 3 and made it to finals; and I finished third in the Sunset League Conference Finals. Subsequently, in the 2023 season, our program was elevated to a CIF division 2 school and I continued to qualify and make it to finals again. Off the deck and in the classroom, I am still striving for excellence. I was nominated for the Golden Shield award by the English department in the 2022/2023 school year, an honor bestowed upon the top 5% of students in the department. Additionally, I never shy away from a challenge and take numerous AP and Honors classes while being in many different clubs. In university, I will continue to push myself to achieve my fullest potential. Also, I am a natural leader. This is shown by my presence on my team. I am always trying to set the best example for my teammates with my can-do attitude and doing anything that is asked of me to the best of my ability. My leadership is also shown in my role as Vice Chairwoman of Communications for Assistance League Assisteens Huntington Beach. I am so excited to find a university that will help me further my academic future as well as my diving career!
